A Wild Idea

I remembered when I though of this idea, I was under pain killers. It was a complex idea that just pop out of nowhere. I was at friend's house and honestly I just got bored of listening to them. I began to doodle without thinking and ended up with a sketch that resulted into this piece. A few days later I see the sketch I drew and it took me a bit to understand what it was. There nothing rational about this piece and I think that what makes it unique. In the focus with have a female figure with her back towards us but her spine is coming out and hibiscus/mushrooms are growing out of it. She begins to lose form and become thin as a petal transforming into a branch flowing in emptiness. Crashing mirrored waves reflecting colors but with a unique texture for foam. The woman's hair wraps around her as if she was blooming. Petals are coming out of the hibiscus from the background and end up flooding as if they were weightless. I used copic markers for the majorly of the work. I love the brush tips, they allow me to blend easily and give "strokes" effects as well. I used colored ink for the waves and branches. I was playing around with colors using warm and color hues. The work is quite surreal, as if it's part of a strange dream. After this piece I felt more comfortable branching out to surreal illustrations (without the pain killer of course). I had a lot of fun creating this piece and enjoyed the freedom is allowed me to have. I would recommend to try creating a surrealism piece and not worry about it being "realistic". A piece that is just pure fun. Thanks to this piece I believe I found my style.
